Hamlin Fistula Fundraiser
Supporting the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation
An obstetric fistula is a devastating childbirth injury caused by prolonged obstructed labour without access to timely medical care. It can leave women living with chronic incontinence, pain, and deep social isolation. While almost unheard of in countries with safe maternity care, fistula still affects thousands of women in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Each year, Bangalow Byron Bay Uniting Church proudly supports the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation through our annual Soup Lunch fundraiser and other donations.
Founded by Catherine Hamlin, the Foundation supports Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia, a world-leading network of hospitals in Ethiopia providing life-changing surgery, rehabilitation, counselling, midwifery training, and prevention programs.
We’re proud to partner in this work because it reflects our commitment to dignity, justice, and practical compassion for women and families.
