Fair Trade
“What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:8
At Bangalow Byron Bay Uniting Church, we believe faith is lived out not only in worship, prayer, and community, but also in the everyday choices we make.
That includes how we buy, consume, and participate in the global economy.
As a Fair Trade faith community, we support a trading system that seeks greater justice for farmers, producers, and workers around the world through fairer prices, safer working conditions, and more sustainable practices.
For Christians, this commitment is grounded in scripture’s consistent call to justice, dignity, and care for our neighbours.

Jesus’ ministry was deeply concerned with the wellbeing of those pushed to the margins, and we believe following him includes paying attention to the human and environmental impact of our choices.
In practice, this means we seek to:
- Serve Fairtrade tea, coffee, and other products wherever possible
- Support ethical and sustainable purchasing in church life
- Raise awareness about trade justice and global inequality
We know no purchasing choice is perfect, but fair trade is one practical way we can align our values with our actions and contribute to a more just world.
